What is saltwater | still and what does it mean?
saltwater | still is a blog that sits at the intersection of mental wellness and agnostic theism — exploring what it means to heal, to seek, and to simply be human.
Saltwater is everything we consume hoping it will satisfy us—but that only makes us thirstier. The comparison, the busyness, the toxic positivity, the performance of wellness.
The still has two meanings: the stillness we’re searching for, and a distillation still—the apparatus that transforms saltwater into something drinkable through heat, patience, and time.
The | represents the process. The space where transformation happens.
This blog is about that slow work of distillation. Learning to recognise what depletes us and what actually nourishes. Not rushing the process, just trusting that clarity will emerge.
Is it just another a wellness blog?
This isn’t a wellness blog that promises quick fixes or pretends positivity will solve everything. It’s a space for honest conversation about the full spectrum of the human experience: the light and the shadow, the certainty and the doubt, the breakthrough and the setback. In short: it’s for people who are still becoming. Which, if we’re honest, is all of us.
Who is this blog for?
It’s for people who don’t yet know where they belong — spiritually, emotionally, or otherwise. For those who’ve outgrown old frameworks but haven’t found new ones yet. For anyone who believes in something but isn’t quite sure what, and has stopped pretending certainty they don’t feel.
If you’ve ever felt like you exist somewhere between worlds — too spiritual for the sceptics, too questioning for the believers, too honest for toxic positivity, too hopeful to give up entirely — you belong here.
What is agnostic theism?
Agnostic theism is part of what I call “Being & Becoming”—the spiritual dimension of existence that doesn’t require doctrine or certainty. It is the position of believing in something greater — a presence, a force, a sacred dimension to existence — while holding the questions openly, without claiming certainty or doctrine. It sits between organised religion and pure atheism, in the honest space of “I don’t know, but I sense something.”
At saltwater | still, we take that space seriously. We don’t ask you to subscribe to any particular belief system or spiritual tradition. We ask only that you’re willing to sit with the possibility that there’s more to being human than can be fully explained, measured, or resolved.
Doubt isn’t the opposite of faith here. It’s part of it.
Do I need to be spiritual to enjoy this blog?
Not at all. You need only be curious — about yourself, about healing, about what it means to live well and honestly.
Some posts lean into spiritual territory. Others are grounded entirely in psychology, neuroscience, or the simple reality of being a person in a complicated world. You’re welcome to take what resonates and leave what doesn’t. There’s no requirement to believe anything in particular, and no judgment if you’re still working out what you think.
The only thing we ask is that you come honestly. That’s enough.
What is saltwater | crush? (coming soon)
saltwater | crush is a companion to saltwater | still — and where still sits with the shadow, crush leans toward the light.
It’s a space for finding joy in the unwritten, warmth in the everyday, and delight in the moment before the answer arrives. It doesn’t pretend that life is simple. But it chooses — actively, deliberately — to notice what is beautiful and open and full of potential. The water here moves. It catches the light. It carries you somewhere.
